REMEMBER WHEN...
Do you remember going to the park with your family? Without checking your phone that you a tweet or a "Like" on Instagram. Growing-up we didn't have Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter. Gosh I feel old for saying that. A few days ago I went to visited my Grandma. As soon I walk up to her door, I could see three little girls making up their own games. This was the place where my cousin and I grow up to. No electronics. Just our imagination we need.
2002
I was 6 or 7 year old. My mom would drop me off at my grandparents house, while she goes play Bingo. While I'm there, my two cousin are there too. My grandma would let us play in the front yard. We played teacher, house, tea party or Powerpuff Girls. If we don't know what else to play, we would make up our own game. Which make it more fun! If we see a stranger, we would run back inside and tell my grandma " Somebody is out there."
We would stay inside for an hour, then we went back outside and continue with our game. We'll stay outside the whole day till it get dark, we would go back inside and watch Disney Channel. We would watch That So Raven, Hannah Montana, Sweet Life of Zac and Cody and sometime a movie. When it get really late, my mom would pick my up from my grandma house. I would tell my cousins "see you tomorrow."
And don't get me started on Saturday Morning. I would wakeup, go to the living room and put the T.V on to ABC Kids. Then I would go to the kitchen make myself a peanut butter sandwich and go back to the living room and watch my favorite shows. By the time I'm making my second peanut butter sandwich, my mom wakeup and she found out I made breakfast. She would go to the living room with me and watch my shows with me. After 15 minutes, she'll go back to her room and call my grandma or one of my aunts. After an hour she'll tell me to get dress and we're going shopping. Those were the best Saturday mornings. Now every time I have a peanut butter sandwich, I always think of those Saturday morning. Not worrying how I look or checking my phone.
I didn't own a MP3 player since I was 9. Instead I had my mom car radio. We would listen to a lot of country music. Such as George Straight, Carrie Underwood, and Tim McGraw. This is what I grew up to. Nothing can replace that. I still listen to country music today. Every song I hear take me back to where everything was so different.
I still picture that little girl at her grandparents house. Having fun with cousins, listening to country music and having the best Saturdays mornings. Those were the best memories!
I can go on about my child hood. I'll do that later on. But for now this is just beginning. So what is your favorite childhood moment?
